The physiological background of everything that happens to your skin when the weather gets warmer. It explains how sebum, sweat, barrier function, and UV load change together in clinical language, but in a simple way for the patient.

Why does this guide start in spring?
Skin is a much more seasonal organ than many patients realize. Skin that has been covered, exposed to low humidity and central heating during winter must adapt to increasing light, fluctuating humidity, and gradually rising temperatures in spring. This transition is the most misunderstood period for the face.
A large portion of my patients complain that their skin, which was comfortable in winter, suddenly becomes temperamental in spring. Often, the problem is not the skin, but that the routine has not changed. This book was designed precisely to fill this gap, to show every patient that the language of the season is a learnable behavior.
What changes in skin physiology in spring?
The strength of sunlight increases, days lengthen, and environmental humidity begins to fluctuate. In the same period, the dermatological footprint of pollen and air pollution increases. Corneocyte cells on the skin's surface are sensitive to changes in moisture; the oil reserve produced in winter may now be excessive, leading to acne, fungal-like follicular irritations, or seborrheic flare-ups.
During this period, melanocytes, the pigmentation cells, also begin to be stimulated. It is not yet summer, but UVA radiation, unlike in winter, reaches the dermis and lays the groundwork for spots. So, a significant part of the problem seen in spring is related to not having designed the skin before summer begins.
What happens when summer arrives?
With the increase in temperature, sebum production and sweating change significantly. Skin pH temporarily rises; this affects the microbiota and triggers patients prone to acne. UV load peaks; therefore, photoprotection should become an indispensable habit throughout the summer.
The most common complaint in summer is shine. Patients often turn to more aggressive cleansers to make their skin appear matte; however, skin with barrier damage produces more oil. This is one of the main messages of this guide: even in summer, we manage the skin by balancing it, not by drying it out.

Is the season your barrier's friend or foe?
The barrier is your skin's intelligent wall that filters every external impact. In spring, sudden temperature changes, and in summer, chlorinated water, air conditioning, and high UV, slightly erode this wall. A fatigued barrier can make the skin's surface appear dry and oily underneath; maskne, itching, sensitivity, and redness may begin.
Therefore, as summer approaches, my primary goal is to strengthen the barrier and establish a photoprotection regimen that does not tire it. For a patient, the biggest investment in summer is not "more products" but "the right order."
Seasonal differences in female, male, young, and mature skin
Hormonal fluctuations can be a melasma trigger, especially in women; in men, beard area folliculitis and barrier damage due to summer shaving are more common. While acne usually worsens in adolescence during summer, loss of elasticity and pigment density become more pronounced in patients over 40.
This guide includes sections divided for each subgroup. Because a single summer routine cannot be right for everyone; the smart approach is to notice the nuances that vary from skin to skin.
Oxidative stress and free radicals
When sun, pollution, intense physical exercise, and stress combine, skin cells are exposed to reactive oxygen species we call "free radicals." These molecules target cell membranes and DNA; they accelerate collagen breakdown, trigger pigmentation, and increase signs of aging.
Antioxidants neutralize the effect of these reactive molecules. In spring and summer, antioxidant support should be increased both topically (Vitamin C, Vitamin E, ferulic acid, resveratrol) and systemically (polyphenols, carotenoids, rich plant-based nutrition).
I strongly recommend including an antioxidant serum in your morning routine. The antioxidant + SPF combination can provide 20-30% higher total protection than SPF alone. This is important practical information; many patients cannot benefit from the true potential of SPF because they do not use antioxidants.
Light and skin color biology
Melanin is the natural pigment that protects the skin from UV. However, when its activities are uncontrolled, undesirable results such as melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and solar lentigo occur. Fitzpatrick skin types are classified as I-II light, III-IV medium, V-VI dark.
As skin type darkens, the UV burn threshold increases, but the likelihood of pigment problems also increases. Dark-skinned patients have a longer delay in skin cancer diagnosis; therefore, an annual examination is recommended for all skin colors.

Sun, UV Radiation, and Our Skin: Everything You Need to Know

What is the UV spectrum and why is it all important?
Sunlight is not just heat. Its spectrum is very broad: although UV (ultraviolet) constitutes a very small part of it, this part creates the most important photobiological consequences for the skin. It has three main groups: UVA (320–400 nm), UVB (290–320 nm), and UVC (200–290 nm). UVC is largely blocked by the ozone layer; it is UVA and UVB that truly concern the skin on the ground.
UVB stays on the surface; it is at the center of burns, redness, and DNA damage. UVA, on the other hand, penetrates deeper; it reaches the dermis, causes elastin-collagen damage, and is the main source of long-term photoaging and increased pigmentation. Even on a cloudy day, a large part of the UVA load continues.
Visible light and infrared: the new generation photothreat
Studies conducted in the last 10 years have shown that not only UV but also HEVL (high-energy visible light) and IR-A (infrared) are significant for photoaging and especially for hyperpigmentation in darker skin types. For this reason, the importance of sunscreens that protect not only against UVA/UVB but also contain mineral (zinc oxide, titanium dioxide) and pigmented components has increased.
In patients with melasma and a tendency for spots, chemical filters alone may not be sufficient. Further in this section, the selection of the correct sunscreen will be discussed as a separate topic; here we focus on understanding the biological background.
UV dose and timing
The UV index (UVI) varies by time of day, geography, and season. In Turkey, between 11:00 and 16:00 in June-August, the UVI usually rises to the 8-10 range; this is the "very high" and "extreme" band. During these hours, sun protection is not just an aesthetic but a medical necessity.
Most of my patients say, "I don't get burned." However, in patients with darker skin tones, UVA damage is cumulative; even doses that do not cause burns trigger collagen damage and pigment accumulation. Sun exposure is not a matter of "feeling," but a matter of accumulation.
- Between 11:00 and 16:00, UV is at its peak in Turkey.

- Water and sand can increase the UV load by 20-80% through reflection.
- Glass windows block UVB but transmit UVA; damage occurs even during driving.

Clinical note:I often see in patient follow-ups: patients who say "I don't stay on the beach anyway" have intense signs of photoaging on their hands, neck V-area, and forehead. The reason for this is daily, unconscious, accumulated UV exposure.
Effects of UV exposure on the skin
In the short term, burns, redness, and acute inflammation are observed. In the medium term, tanning is actually a defense response; it is the skin's response to DNA damage. In the long term, collagen loss, elastosis, solar lentigo (age spots), actinic keratosis, and skin cancers come into play.
According to data from the American Academy of Dermatology, 80-90% of age-related skin changes are not chronological but photographic, meaning UV-induced. In other words, a large part of what is called aging is actually sun damage. This information makes sunscreen a health tool, not a luxury.
Vitamin D paradox: is the sun good or bad?
Patients often ask: "If UV is so harmful, what about vitamin D?" This is an important question. The truth is: a few minutes of controlled UVB exposure to the skin is sufficient for vitamin D synthesis. A few minutes on the arms and legs, 2-3 days a week, outside of peak UVI, is sufficient for most healthy individuals.
In patients with a tendency for spots, melasma, or a history of skin cancer, trying to get vitamin D from the sun is not logical in terms of risk-benefit; vitamin D can be supplemented orally and blood levels monitored. The argument that sunscreen blocks vitamin D has largely become invalid in current literature.
Attention:Sunburn is not a punishment, but an emergency signal from the skin. Subjecting burned skin to aggressive treatments (peeling, laser, retinoid) in the next 48 hours is risky and wrong.
Four layers of photoprotection
Modern photoprotection is not just about applying cream. I advocate a four-layered approach: behavioral (avoiding peak hours), physical (UV-protective clothing, wide-brimmed hat, UV glasses), topical (sunscreen), and systemic (antioxidant support, nutrition).
Effective protection begins when these four layers work together. Relying solely on sunscreen is not practically sufficient; because most patients do not apply enough, the actual SPF remains very low. In the following sections, I will explain the correct application logic in great detail.
Skin cancer and regular examination
Melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma are the most common skin cancers. The vast majority are successfully treated with early diagnosis. It should not be forgotten that increased sun exposure in Turkey during the summer months is the cornerstone of cancer cases developing decades later.
Golden rule: at least once a year dermatological examination after the age of 30, showing suspicious "new" or "changing" moles to a doctor, knowing the ABCDE rule (Asymmetry, Border, Color, Diameter, Evolution). If there is a family history of skin cancer, patients with many moles, fair skin, and intense lifelong sun exposure may need more frequent follow-up.
Photoallergy and phototoxicity
Some medications (tetracycline, amiodarone, furosemide, some NSAIDs, some psychiatric medications) and cosmetic ingredients (bergamot oil, perfumes) can cause the skin to react in an unfamiliar way when combined with sun. These reactions sometimes resemble sunburn, sometimes present as eczema.
When you start a new medication, ask your doctor about sun interaction. Do not apply bergamot-containing perfume to the face; be careful with citrus oil contact.
Essence of the section:UV is a year-round burden. Although seasonal intensity increases, the habit of protection itself is not seasonal; it should become a lifelong habit both aesthetically and medically.
The Right Sunscreen Choice and Proper Use Guide
A detailed section where I explain, based on my clinical experience, how to decipher SPF, PA+++ labels, correctly understand chemical and mineral filters, and which formulation suits which skin type.

- The right product, in the hands of a patient who knows how to read scientific labels, is the most powerful skin weapon.
- SPF 30 is not the minimum threshold; sufficient quantity and reapplication can be more critical.

What does SPF tell us, and what doesn't it?
SPF (Sun Protection Factor) measures the protection provided against UVB; it indicates how many times longer it takes for erythema to form on the skin. SPF 30 theoretically blocks 97% of UVB; SPF 50 blocks approximately 98%. Although the difference may seem small, the reason I prefer SPF 50+ is that patients practically do not apply enough product, causing the actual SPF to drop significantly.
SPF only provides information about UVB. For UVA protection, look for the PA+++ or PA++++ label (Japan-Asia standard) or the "UVA" logo in a circle and "broad spectrum" statement in Europe. UVA rays are long-wave, deeply penetrating, and pigmentation-causing rays; a product with insufficient UVA protection cannot prevent photoaging despite a high SPF.
Chemical filter, mineral filter, hybrid formulation
Chemical (organic) filters absorb UV energy and convert it into heat, neutralizing it; they provide a thin, comfortable, and aesthetically invisible formulation. New-generation molecules such as avobenzone, octocrylene, tinosorb S, and tinosorb M provide broad-spectrum UVA + UVB protection.
Mineral (inorganic) filters are based on zinc oxide and titanium dioxide; they reflect and scatter light. They are my first choice, especially for sensitive, reactive, couperose, pregnant, and baby skin. With advancements in technology, micronized or encapsulated mineral formulations have significantly reduced the whitening effect.
Hybrid formulations contain components of both types and offer an excellent balance for most adults. Pigmented (iron oxide-containing) mineral formulations are particularly valuable for patients with melasma because they also block visible light.
- Acne-prone skin: "non-comedogenic," "oil-free," gel or fluid texture SPF 50+.
- Dry/mature skin: rich, moisturizing formulation; may contain hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, or panthenol.
- Sensitive/rosacea-prone skin: pure mineral, fragrance-free, alcohol-free formulation.
- Melasma: iron oxide-containing (tinted) mineral formulation.
- Male skin: fast-absorbing, non-shiny matte finish, alcohol-free product.
- Under makeup: non-setting, matte finish, or slightly luminous formula depending on the person.
Clinical note:The safest prescription for sunscreen is the formulation that the patient is willing to reapply every day. A perfect but disliked product cannot protect as well as a roughly applied one.
How much to apply? The two-finger rule
The recommended amount for an adult face + neck is approximately 2 mg/cm², which practically means two finger-lengths (not too much, just right) of SPF. The vast majority of patients use only a quarter of this; as a result, a high SPF product practically drops to an SPF 10-15 level.
Approximately 2 fingers per arm, 3-4 fingers per leg, and 5-6 fingers for the back are recommended. Besides the face, behind the ears, sides of the neck, nape, shoulders, and back of the hands are easily forgotten; these areas are the most common "forgotten" skin cancer risk areas.
When to reapply?
Every sunscreen maintains its SPF value only for a certain period after the first application. Due to the reduction in protection caused by sweat, contact, towel contact, air conditioning, and natural loss, reapplication every 2 hours is the medical standard.
In the sea, pool, or during active outdoor sports, the reapplication interval drops to 80 minutes. Therefore, one tube may not be enough for your vacation; I recommend keeping separate products in the home-beach-bag-car quartet.
Attention:Spray sunscreen, while practical for easy application, is difficult to measure the amount. If using a spray, spray until the skin is completely wet, then spread with your hand; otherwise, the protection will be very weak.
Common traps on labels
There are terms like "water resistant," "waterproof" on the market. The FDA has banned the term "waterproof" since 2011; the correct terms are "40 minutes water resistant" or "80 minutes water resistant." It must be reapplied after this period.
Some products carry the "reef safe" label; this means they do not contain certain chemicals (such as oxybenzone, octinoxate) that are considered harmful to coral reefs. This is related to environmental impact, not health risk.
Proper storage and expiration
Sunscreen usually maintains its protective effects for 12 months after opening, some formulations for 6 months. The protective power of an SPF left in high temperatures (e.g., in a summer car trunk, a bag left in the sun on the beach) drops dramatically.
If there is a change in smell, color, or texture in the bottle, discard the cream. Look at the PAO (period after opening) symbol on the package (e.g., 12M) and try to consume it within that period.
SPF choreography at the beach and during sports
Two fingers of SPF 50+ at home in the morning before going out. A second layer 15-20 minutes after arriving at the beach (while the first application is absorbed). Reapply again after coming out of the pool or sea, before touching with a dry towel. Reapply every 80 minutes.
Although this choreography may seem complex, it becomes automatic if you repeat it for 3 days. Over time, it becomes your "SPF ritual." This is the only discipline you owe your skin throughout your vacation.

Protecting the Skin Barrier During Spring Transition
Why the barrier can be damaged when transitioning from winter to summer care, which actives to reduce, and which to continue.

What is the barrier, and why is it important?
The skin barrier is an intelligent defense system composed of the building blocks of the outermost layer called the stratum corneum. Corneocyte cells form the bricks, and the ceramide/cholesterol/fatty acid mixture between the cells forms the mortar. This system both filters external factors and retains water within the skin.
In skin with a healthy barrier, TEWL (transepidermal water loss) is low; the skin remains soft, flexible, and resilient. In skin with a fatigued barrier, redness, burning, itching, dry patches, and increased sensitivity are observed. The spring transition is the period when this balance can be disrupted most rapidly.
What goes wrong during the transition?
A significant portion of patients suddenly revolutionize their routine with the arrival of summer. They stop or double their retinol, add a new acid, strengthen their cleanser, and get a peeling session in the same week. This accumulation leads to barrier breakdown.
The correct approach is a gradual transition. The switch from winter cream to summer formulation is made not overnight, but over two to three weeks. New actives are added one by one; 3 new products are not started simultaneously in one week.
- Reduce your retinol dose by 50% or halve the frequency of use.
- Apply AHAs/BHAs 2-3 times a week instead of once a day.
- Look for ingredients that add moisture to your cleanser; avoid overly foamy, high-pH soaps.
- When trying a new product, wait 4-5 days for other actives.
- Think of your entire routine like a dinner plate: just as there is a balance of protein + vegetables + carbohydrates, a balance of moisture + active + protection is essential.
Clinical note:Educating the skin is a marathon, not a sprint. Barrier repair takes a minimum of 2-4 weeks, sometimes 3 months. During this period, patience, minimal actives, and strong support are the skin's greatest friends.
Barrier-friendly ingredients
Ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids are building blocks that the skin produces itself; creams that supplement these components externally rapidly repair the barrier. Niacinamide strengthens barrier function, manages pigmentation, and raises the skin's inflammation threshold.
Panthenol, allantoin, beta-glucan, centella asiatica (cica) actives are among the classics with a calming effect. For patients whose complaints have just started, a 4-6 week repair period containing these ingredients is often sufficient for revision.
Attention:Procedures such as peeling, laser, and mesotherapy should be postponed for skin with barrier damage. Otherwise, complications will arise instead of results.
What to add and remove in spring?
Add: Light antioxidant serum (Vitamin C, resveratrol, ferulic acid), niacinamide, high SPF, plenty of fluids.
Remove: Very heavy winter creams, unnecessarily dense occlusive occlusions, frequent and aggressive peelings, unnecessarily multiple active combinations.
Hidden harbingers of barrier damage
The sudden onset of skin surface shine, a burning sensation when you apply your active, daytime itching, stinging after lipstick or makeup — all of these are harbingers of early barrier fatigue. When visible redness appears, the problem has usually progressed.
Not missing early warnings prevents the transition to chronic sensitivity. Develop a habit of daily skin observation: evaluate your face for 10 seconds when you look in the mirror in the morning.
A barrier-friendly repair week
If the skin is clearly fatigued, implement a 7-day minimal repair week: only gentle sulfate-free cleanser, pure ceramide-niacinamide cream, high SPF. No retinoids, acids, enzyme peels, or fragranced products.
By the seventh day, your skin's surface will be more even, brighter, and more resilient. From this point on, reintroduce actives one by one, every other day, at a low dose.
- Monday: minimal routine + ceramide-based cream.
- Tuesday: mineral SPF + antioxidant serum.
- Wednesday: barrier test with gentle cleanser.
- Thursday: niacinamide morning + evening.
- Friday: first low-dose retinoid reintroduction.
- Saturday: waiting and observation.
- Sunday: light AHA/BHA only if necessary.

Acne, Sebum and Oil Control in Summer Months
Why does acne flare up in summer, when temperature, sweat and photoprotection combine, what is the right routine, at what point should one see a doctor?

- Summer acne is often environmental and mechanical, not hormonal.
- Drying the skin does not reduce oil production, but rather increases it.
- To solve shine, it is necessary to balance, not to mattify.
Why is summer acne different?
With increasing temperature, sebum (oil gland secretion) production increases; the balance of oil mixed with sweat, dead cells, and microbiota changes. This combination accelerates comedo formation, which is a prerequisite for acne.
At the same time, sunscreen, makeup, and sweat mix with the skin throughout the day; chlorinated water and sea salt add an extra burden to the barrier. As a result, summer acne may not resemble classic hormonal acne in terms of both frequency and distribution.
Most common types of summer acne
Classic inflammatory acne (papules, pustules), "maskne"-like mechanical acne seen on the forehead and back, follicular flares, and sun-induced Mallorca acne (acne aestivalis) are common in summer.
Not every type is managed with the same approach. For example, mistaking folliculitis for acne and applying BPO (benzoyl peroxide) can worsen the condition. Therefore, physician evaluation is very valuable for stubborn or suspicious acne.
- Inflammatory acne: salicylic acid, BPO, topical retinoid.
- Follicular acne: antifungal support, mild antibacterial.
- Mechanical acne (tape, mask, helmet area): reduce friction + barrier support.
- Sun-induced acne: mineral SPF, oil-free formulas.
Clinical note:Sebum production is managed by hormonal and genetic determinants. Aggressive cleansers, alcoholic toners, or harsh foams cannot stop oil production; on the contrary, they disrupt the barrier and create a reflex increase in oil.
The right summer acne routine
Morning: a gentle gel cleanser, light antioxidant, oil-free SPF 50+. Evening: double cleansing (single if no makeup), a thin topical active (retinoid or BHA), light moisturizer.
Retinoids can also be used in summer; however, the dose, frequency, and SPF discipline must be very clear. Retinoids started in summer are decisive in long-term control of both acne and pigmentation. Each patient may react differently; treatment should be followed up.
Attention:Especially pay attention to back and chest acne: chlorine, sweat, and tight clothing increase complaints. Shower immediately after sweating, do not wear wet swimsuits, prefer breathable cotton clothing.
When to seek help at the clinic?
Stubborn acne that leaves scars and does not respond to 6 weeks of topical treatment requires a physician's approach. In advanced cases, combinations of topical and oral treatments, peels, microneedling, and some laser approaches play a role.
However, laser selections made during the summer months are particularly critical; incorrect selection can cause pigmentation. Collaborating with a physician who understands the seasonal calendar is the most appropriate approach.
Nutrition, hormones, and acne
There is consistent data in the literature that high glycemic index diets, dairy products, and whey protein consumption increase acne in some patients. However, this is not equally valid for every patient; individual follow-up is important.
Stress and insufficient sleep stimulate sebum production through cortisol balance. As a result, acne is a condition managed not only on the skin but also underneath it.
Acne flares are typical, especially in female patients, during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle. If PCOS, insulin resistance, or other endocrine conditions are suspected, dermatologist-endocrine collaboration may be valuable.
Summer acne on the back, chest, and shoulders

Children's skin is not adult skin
During childhood, the skin barrier is not fully mature; transepidermal water loss is higher, and protective capacity is lower. Therefore, children's skin is more sensitive to UV.
Research shows that approximately 23% of lifetime total UV exposure accumulates before the age of 18. Thus, safe habits are established in childhood; they are only maintained in adulthood.
Recommendations by age
For infants (0-6 months): Shade, protective clothing, wide-brimmed hats, and time management are recommended rather than sunscreen. At this age, pure mineral SPF can be applied to small areas when necessary.
For young children (6 months-6 years): Mineral-based, unscented, fragrance-free SPF 50+ is preferred. A skin test (monitoring a small area for 24 hours on first use) is recommended.
For adolescents: Associating SPF with acne is a common mistake; oil-free, non-comedogenic formulations are available.

- For 0-6 months, sunscreen only on small areas when needed.

In summer camps, outdoor activities, and sports activities, family and instructor cooperation is critical. A child's protective behavior is learned by observing the adults around them.
Acne and SPF in adolescents
During adolescence, both acne and UV protection are on the agenda. Most acne medications make the skin sensitive to the sun; isotretinoin, topical retinoids, and some antibiotics are in this group.
During this period, non-comedogenic, light SPF formulations suitable for oily skin should be preferred. The belief that "SPF triggers my acne" often stems from incorrect product selection; when the right formula is found, SPF is part of acne treatment.
Tanning beds and solariums in young people
It is known that the use of solariums at a young age significantly increases the risk of skin cancer. WHO has classified solariums as Group 1 carcinogens.
The tanning trend, pressure to "look good," and social media increase solarium use in some young people. Therefore, awareness is the shared responsibility of family and physician. If there are self-tanning cosmetics for safe tanning, we should primarily recommend coloring this way, not through solariums.

Summer is over: where is my skin?
As September begins, take a look at a short film of your skin: is your skin tone even, is the pigment differentiated, have under-eye dark circles increased, are fine wrinkles prominent, is the barrier tired? This self-assessment lays the foundation for the treatment plan.
Late summer fatigue usually comes in the form of the quartet: photoaging + dehydration + pigment + barrier. Each requires a separate but combined approach.
First 2 weeks: stabilize
The goal during this period is to calm and repair the skin. Minimalist active, powerful moisturizer, gentle photoprotection, plenty of fluids and sleep. If you have retinoids, restart with a low dose; do not immediately enter aggressive pigment treatment with high doses.
Weeks 3-6: transition to treatment
After the skin has recovered, a transition to the protocol is recommended: light chemical peels, mesotherapy sessions, care primarily based on tranexamic acid or azelaic acid, enzyme peels that do not strain the barrier.
More pronounced effective protocols such as PRP, skinbooster, microneedling are also planned during this period; pigment treatments and IPL are transitioned to after 6-8 weeks.

30 Most Common Questions I Hear From My Patients: Candid Answers from the Clinic
For years, these are the 30 most common questions I've heard in my clinic, along with answers that are as clear and scientifically based as possible. Myths, common mistakes, and misconceptions that need to be corrected.

Sun and protection
Question 1: "Is sunscreen really necessary on a cloudy day?" Yes. Although clouds partially filter UVB, 70-90% of UVA passes through. Protection is recommended for a UV index of 3 and above.
Question 2: "I sit in an office, is SPF still necessary?" Yes, glass transmits UVA; a mineral formulation is also recommended for blue light effect.
Question 3: "I have dark skin, do I need SPF?" Although dark skin types are more resistant to sunburn, there is a risk of DNA damage, melasma, and skin cancer. Lifelong protection is needed.
Question 4: "Does SPF inhibit vitamin D synthesis?" In real life, sufficient vitamin D needs are safely met with oral supplementation. Therefore, reducing photoprotection would be a wrong trade-off.
Sunscreen and application
Question 5: "Is SPF 100 really twice as good as SPF 50?" No. SPF 50 filters 98% of UVB, SPF 100 filters 99%. The difference is very small; the main difference is the correct amount and repeated application.
Question 6: "Is SPF 15 foundation under makeup sufficient?" No. The SPF of foundation remains very low in practice due to insufficient quantity. Apply a real SPF 50+ beforehand.
Question 7: "How safe is spray SPF?" It may not be sufficient alone as quantity measurement is difficult. I recommend spraying it on your face and spreading it with your hand.
Skincare routine
Question 8: "Should I apply retinol every day?" Initially 2-3 days a week, then every other day as the skin tolerates it, then daily. The dose is adjusted as needed in summer.
Question 9: "Should I store my vitamin C serum in the refrigerator?" It can be beneficial for some oxidation-sensitive formulations, but it is not mandatory for every formula. A dark glass bottle and a tightly closed cap are sufficient.
Question 10: "Is a 10-step Korean routine really necessary?" No. For most skin types, 4-6 steps are sufficient and more sustainable.
Question 11: "Should I wash my face every day?" Definitely in the evening. In the morning, only water or a gentle cleanser is sufficient depending on the dryness of the skin.

Question 12: "Does it make sense to get Botox in the summer?" Yes, it is safe as long as you control UV exposure afterwards.
Question 13: "Does filler melt in the summer?" Hyaluronic acid fillers do not melt with heat; however, swelling may be slightly more pronounced in the first few days in excessively hot environments.

Question 16: "Does mesotherapy hurt?" Pain is minimal thanks to local anesthetic cream and thin needles.

Question 18: "Homemade lemon/vinegar recommendation for my spots?" No, it can be irritating and phototoxic. Physician-controlled professional depigmentants are safe.
Question 19: "Is toothpaste good for pimples?" No, it causes irritation. BPO or salicylic acid are more suitable for punctual spot treatment.
Question 20: "Can melasma be treated during pregnancy?" Some topicals (azelaic acid, niacinamide) are safe, others are contraindicated. Physician control is essential.
