Right Questions on Consultation Day

The frame of mind the patient should bring with them when preparing for the consultation.

Main ideas in this chapter

  • A good consultation is a shared thinking space between the patient and the physician.
  • The right questions are more valuable than finding the right procedure.
  • At the end of the consultation, you should understand not only what will be done, but also why it will be done.

The real purpose of the consultation

A consultation is not a sales pitch, it is a decision meeting. The physician's duty is not only to offer options; it is also to distinguish what is appropriate, what is unnecessary, and what is risky for you.

The patient's duty is not only to say "I want this," but to clearly explain what they feel and what they want to change.

Questions that must be asked

Asking questions does not complicate the process; it makes it safe. The physician should be able to speak clearly, calmly, and without appearing defensive when answering.

  • What is the main problem with my face?
  • Is there a strong reason not to do it today?
  • How will the natural outcome of your proposed plan be preserved?
  • Is there an alternative and simpler approach?
  • What will the follow-up and control plan be?

Mature starting point:If you still don't understand what needs to be done at the end of the consultation, it means you need a little more time to make a decision.

How should you leave the meeting?

After a good consultation, your mind is clearer, not more confused. You know which area was discussed and why, which approach was recommended and why, and in which situations it would be better to wait.

This clarity is the most valuable part of the aesthetic process. Because a good result is often the continuation of a good decision.
